This helicopter, designed by Bell at the end of the fifties, rose to notoriety through its use in Vietnam. It is by far the most used heli the world has seen. The Huey was extensively used in support and attack sorties. Thanks to its reliability and robust construction, the UH-1 was quickly acquired by the armed forces of many countries (Italy, Japan, Sweden, and Holland among others). UH-1s remained in service until the end of the seventies and were then substituted for more modern and sophisticated versions.
